Free pizza as competitors fight it out

Another salvo has been fired in Australia’s pizza wars, with Domino’s today putting together a cheeky response to Pizza Hut’s recent offer to give away 10,000 free pizzas.

Just days after Pizza Hut announced its giveaway, which was in response to the news that Domino’s would be axing the margherita from most of its menus, Domino’s has gone literally one better, declaring it will give away 10,001 free pizzas from its new menu range over the weekend.

“We are giving 10,001 customers the chance to find their new favourite pizza by trying one of our new premium pizzas for free,” Domino’s chief executive for Australia and New Zealand Nick Knight told The Gladstone Observer.

“You don’t have to queue up outside our stores to be able to receive your free pizza; Domino’s likes to make our customer’s lives easier, so without leaving the comfort of your own home, you can download a code online to enjoy this giveaway.”
