New figures released this week show the number of companies entering external administration in March climbed to 463, a 30% jump on February and nearly 80% higher than January. 

Australia’s latest lockdowns pose a challenge for the ATO: start collecting the business debts outstanding from 2020 and risk putting companies under further pressure, or allow those debts to continue to grow.

From December 31, businesses will snap back into the sights of creditors — an issue keeping many owners awake at night.
