Wealthy entrepreneurs including Kerry Stokes, Frank Lowy, John Symond and former Macquarie Bank chief Alan Moss are amongst a large group of rich individuals and families that have donated to Malcolm Turnbull’s electorate fundraising vehicle.
According to a report in The Age, Turnbull’s fundraising vehicle, the Wentworth Forum, has collected $1.4 million since 2007.
A long list of wealthy donors have made contributions, led by Westfield chief Frank Lowy and Seven Network boss Kerry Stokes.
Other donors to feature on the BRW’s Rich 200 list include property developer John Beville, Alf Moufarrige of serviced office company Servcorp, property magnate John Roth, Salmat cofounder Philip Salter and veteran investor Alan Rydge.
According to the report, the ‘membership fee’ for the Wentworth Forum ranges from $5,500 to be a ‘member’ to $16,500 to be a ‘patron’ right up to $55,000 to be a ‘governor’.
The top ‘governor’ package entitles the buyer to host large boardroom events, receive two tables at major functions and attend an exclusive dinner for the Opposition Leader’s biggest donors.
