New mail can be a blessing and a curse, but one of the most annoying parts of receiving a new message is the distracting sound it makes. You don’t want to be working away and be constantly irritated by dozens of noises throughout the day.
Thankfully in Windows there’s a way to turn this sound off.
Open the Control Panel, and then open the Sound link. Then, click on the “sounds” tab. You’ll see a list of sounds, you’ll need to select the one that says “New Mail”. Once you’ve done that, at the bottom of the screen select “none” from the drop-down box.
You can always go back and change it later, but for now your mail will be tone-free.
