How to change fetch mail settings on iOS

Tech TrickIf you’re an iPhone user then you’re probably reading your email on your gadget as well. It’s a feature common to all smartphones, but there’s a problem – it can suck your battery dry.

This is especially the case if you’re pushing all email to yourself, along with receiving notifications for new messages.

But there’s a way to still read your mail and save battery power while doing so.

First, you need to open the Settings app on your iPhone, and then open the Mail, Contacts and Calendars option. Scroll down to the option that says “Fetch New Data” and click to open the menu.

There, you’ll want to turn push notifications to “off”, and you’ll also want to set a time for mail to be downloaded automatically, or “fetched”. Tip: the longer between each download, the less batter power you’ll eat up.

If you want to save the most amount of power, set the downloads to “manually”, but you can choose 15 minute intervals if you prefer.
