How to tether your iPad

Tech TrickConnecting to the internet can be a hassle if you don’t have the right gear around, and especially if you can’t find a wireless network.

But if you own an iPad and an iPhone 4, then you may be able to get around this with a neat little workaround.

The iPhone has a new Personal Hotspot feature now enabled, which allows users to create a wireless network that can connect up to five devices. To do so go to “Settings”, then “General”, and then “Network”. Go the “Personal Hotspot” feature and then press “On”.

The iPhone should then give you a password for the iPhone wireless network. But using your iPad, you can actually connect to this wireless network as well.

If you don’t have a 3G iPad, this is a good way to get around that limitation. To make sure you’re tethered to the iPhone network, you should see a chain symbol in the upper left-hand corner of the iPad screen.
