Start-ups keep pace with fitness technology

Fitness technologyAs obesity rates continue to plague large parts of the western world, US entrepreneurs have developed a product to prevent people from falling off the healthy living wagon.

Emergent Detection is a fitness technology start-up, which has developed a product called BodyKey, providing people with immediate feedback about their body and weight loss programs.

The BodyKey solution consists of a handheld device as well as a computer software program. After a workout, the device gives the user an immediate reading of how much fat they have burned, helping the user to stay on track.

“Many people give up on their weight loss journey because they get frustrated due to a lack of results,” the company says.

“Our product will give you immediate feedback on your efforts letting you know that you are, in fact, making progress… This positive psychological reinforcement is critical to helping people to stick with their program.”

Meanwhile, the computer software program is packed with tools that help the user select the right food and exercise programs for their body, and forecast how long it will take them to achieve their goal.

The fitness industry continues to grow as more people trade the couch for a cross-trainer, so there’s certainly a market for products promising to help people in their quest to improve their health. What other ideas would hit the ground running?
