If you’re a regular iTunes user then the latest update to iOS 4.3 will make your life a lot easier – users can now share media across all their iOS devices using Home Sharing.
This feature can allow you to save on storage space as you can stream data from one device to another, without having to copy the file altogether.
To activate home sharing, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes (10.2) and then click on “Home Sharing” in the left-hand side bar. Once you’re there, sign in with your Apple ID.
Then, on your iPhone or iPad, go to the “Settings” app and click on “iPod”. There you’ll see a place for you to input your Apple ID, including your password – make sure you’re connected to the same WiFi network.
And you’re all set. Go to the iPod app, then click on “More” on the bottom of the screen. There you will be able to access a “Shared” option, which gives you access to the iOS libraries on that WiFi network.
