With Apple announcing the new iPad, some would-be buyers may want to know how they can convert some of their media for the new device.
Apple has some pretty strict code restrictions, but thanks to some handy programs you can convert your videos for the iPad 2.
One of the best programs you should be using is Handbrake. This free service allows you to convert any type of media file to an Apple-friendly format – you can even convert straight from a DVD.
First, you need to go here and download the appropriate type of file for your operating system.
After you follow the prompts and install the program, it should appear in just a few minutes. On the right hand side, you choose which preset you want – the formats range from video for the iPod all the way up to the Apple TV.
Then, go to “Source”, and find the file you want to convert. If a DVD is in the drive it should detect it automatically.
Then, choose where you want to save the destination file, and press “Start”. You can also add more videos to convert in a queue, if you want to get a chunk of video conversion done all at once.
