The US state of Arkansas has released the very first iPhone application that tracks state projects that are funded through the US Government’s stimulus package.
The application is available in the iTunes store, and can be downloaded to any iPhone or iPod Touch product.
“We want transparency in the recovery process,” Chris Masingill of the Arkansas State Recovery Office told CNN. “This is taxpayers’ money, so we want them to have the information and the tools to access it.”
Users can use the application search project names, descriptions and dollar allocations, including start dates and the percentage of the project that has been completed.
The application also uses the devices’ GPS systems, which locate projects nearest to the user.
