Subscription television service Foxtel is considering introducing online-only subscriptions later this year as part of moves to beef up its web strategy.
The company says it is attempting to transform the website into a broadband entertainment channel. It has already launched the new site, complete with program trailers and recommendation functions, in advance of full-length program downloads to be launched in October.
Chief executive Kim Williams told The Australian that the company is experimenting with broadband-exclusive offerings.
“In terms of … Foxtel having a full broadband-only subscription product, it’s clearly something we’ve examined,” he said. “We’re not in any kind of position to make any announcements.”
