Kiwis beat Aussies in online shopping

New Zealand folk are more comfortable with getting their news and shopping online than Australians, according to research by net measurement company Hitwise.

Just over 5.7% of Australian web visits went to online shopping and classified sites, according to Hitwise, well behind those shopaholic Kiwis on 7.18%.

They also tend to go to the web to get their news more often, with 6.7% of Kiwi visits to a news site compared to 6.12% for Australians (and a low 3.9% for the US).

But the Kiwis aren’t ahead on every front – Aussies are more likely to do social networking (8.38% of visits compared to 8.23%) and do online banking (4.31% compared to 4.15%).
