A new US website has been created to help consumers get the best price when shopping for a second-hand car. Springwise reports San Francisco-based site PriceHub provides a constantly updated list of information of what particular used cars are selling for, which allows the shopper to make a quick appraisal of whether a purchase they are considering is good value or not.
The car buyer simply types in the make, model and year of the car they are thinking of buying and PriceHub supplies a list of recent transactions for that vehicle, their location, and the mileage and condition of the car that was sold.
The information comes from a combination of aggregate data from auctions, agencies and dealers, and information submitted by people who have recently bought a car themselves.
The service will also be of some use to car-sellers – they can use the site to support their argument that a particular price is really a bargain… as long as they’re telling the truth, of course.
