33-year-old family catering company collapses

A family-owned catering company that began trading in 1981 has collapsed into voluntary administration.

Bradd William Morelli and Andrew John Spring of Jirsch Sutherland were appointed administrators on December 2. The first meeting of creditors will take place on December 12, 2014.

A spokesperson for Hudson Caterers, which operates in the Hunter and Newcastle regions of New South Wales, confirmed to SmartCompany Jirsch Sutherland has been appointed as administrators of the business.

Hudson Caterers has previously catered for the Groovin the Moo music festival and RAAF air shows, according to its website. It also previously catered for some of the largest Australian gas pipeline companies.

The business was founded by Alex Hudson, a former army chef trained as a Warrant Officer caterer, and managed by his daughter Julianna Luxton.

According to its website, Hudson Catering also operates at inland pools in the Newcastle City Council area, as well as Newcastle Ocean Baths and the kiosk on Newcastle Railway Station, which it has operated for more than 26 years.

SmartCompany contacted Jirsch Sutherland, but did not receive a response prior to publication.
