Google Chromecast can now mirror an Android smartphone or tablet display on a TV

Google is rolling out a feature launched during its Google I/O developer conference, allowing users to mirror their smartphone display on a TV.

In order to use the feature, users will need to make sure they have updated to version 1.7 of the Chromecast app through the Google Play app store.

After receiving the update, users will be able to choose a new menu option called “Cast Screen” from the navigation drawer of the Chromecast app. Google notes that on Nexus smartphone, the option will also be available in the quick settings menu.

To stop casting, users will need to select the “Disconnect” option from the notification drop down menu.

The update will be limited to a number of devices, including the Nexus 4,5,7 (2013 edition) or 10; Samsung Galaxy S4, S5, Note 3 and Note 10; HTC One M7; as well as LG G2, G3 and Pro 2. Google also says that it plans to add support for additional devices in the future.

For the feature to work, both the Android smartphone or tablet and the Chromecast need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
