Power Play: Don’t reduce people to one thing

Nobody likes feeling that people see us as one-dimensional. We all have many parts to our personality (and to our lives) and Power Players try not to paint people as just one thing.

It’s limiting (and depressing) for people to think that the world sees them in such a small way. Resist the temptation to reduce people to the lowest common denominator. Just because it might be easier for you to see people in the simplest possible light doesn’t mean you should.

We all foster these ideas about ourselves as complex, complicated, multi-dimensional, interesting people. Even if we’re not, a Power Player will never point this out.

Power Players always let people live up to their desire to be juicier and more fascinating. When people have been given their room to grow, they generally don’t disappoint.

Power Players know this and they look to see more in people, not less.
