Mentoring opportunity for entrepreneurs

A national mentoring program for entrepreneurs with early stages of businesses in the creative sector is currently seeking participants.

The Young Entrepreneurs Success scheme is tailored to suit budding entrepreneurs in a wide range of creative industries from art, fashion, and music to software development and product or furniture design.

The scheme, which is targeted towards young businesses but not necessarily young people, involves a series of five mentoring sessions with experienced business experts covering topics such as finding investors, buyers and strategic partners, marketing, intellectual property and management.

The mentors will also select the five participants whose ideas show the greatest all-round potential to take part in more intensive one-on-one mentoring.

Participation in the scheme is selective, with each session limited to 15 to 20 – a number that has already been exceeded by the number of applications.

It costs $150 per session to participate in the scheme, which is heavily subsidised by the Federal Government and delivered by Brisbane firm Creative Economy.

Sessions are being run in each capital city from late October this year until April 2008.

Applications close on 5 October and can be made online.
