HTC engineers are planning to demonstrate new features from a future yet-to-be released version of Android, including Bluetooth Low Energy and a new graphics rendering engine, to app developers in San Francisco.
The new features, mentioned in a post for the San Francisco Android Users’ Group on Meetup.com, include giving Android devices in the future the ability to collect data from external sensors over a prolonged period without wasting battery life.
“Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) on Android has arrived. Dario Laverde [from HTC] will provide an overview of the BLE specification and take us through the new APIs with some hands-on demos with various devices, heart rate monitors, key finders, and multi-sensor kits (temperature, pressure, humidity, accelerometer). You’ll walk away ready with the code to kick start your BLE ideas,” the post states.
“Next, [HTC engineer] Lance Nanek will tell us about Open GL ES 3.0, the new pipeline, updated shading language, enhanced texturing… but more importantly, blow us away with some amazing demos!”
