Canonical releases Ubuntu and an installer for Google’s Nexus 7 tablet

Canonical has released a version of Ubuntu for Google’s Nexus 7 tablet.

According to OMG!Ubuntu, Canonical expects the Nexus 7 to be the “reference device” where future versions of Ubuntu will be tweaked.

The company has also released a one-click installer that downloads the correct version of Ubuntu and installs it on the tablet.

However, downloading Ubuntu for the Nexus 7 requires users to first unlock the boot-loader of their tablet, voiding their warranty. In addition, the default installation of Android and any installed apps are deleted from the device by installing Ubuntu.
