President Barack Obama is proposing a budget of $US769 million to help fund the Department of Homeland Security’s cybersecurity operations.
According to Threatpost, the funds will be used to protect government networks from attack through the DHS’s Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative.
The news comes after security expert Eugene Kaspersky warned about the risks posed by cyberweapons as well as recent attacks against the CIA website.
The Obama administration has announced a budget of $US40 million to fight against intellectual property violations and counterfeit merchandise.
