Apple has confirmed it will be making an education-related announcement on January 19, despite rumours the company would be launching a new product this month.
Although the company has not yet hinted at what it may reveal, some sources have suggested the announcement could be related to changes in the textbook industry – a move Steve Jobs was quoted as planning in his posthumous biography.
In another unusual move, the announcement is to be held in New York City, rather than the company’s hometown of San Francisco.
Other suggestions include Apple could be working on expanding iTunes U, or perhaps something to do with ebooks.
