There is growing speculation that Apple is planning to make an important media-related announcement in New York later this month.
According to reports by Kara Swisher of AllThingsD, independently confirmed by TechCrunch, the product event will focus on online publishing and the iBooks platform rather than new hardware.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of internet software and services, is reportedly involved with the event. Cue’s responsibilities include overseeing Apple’s iTunes, iCloud, iBook, iAd, and app store platforms.
This time last year, Cue helped launch News Corp’s online publication The Daily.
