Social network FourSquare has topped 15 million users, the company confirmed in correspondence with Clickz.
The company has continued to grow strongly throughout 2011 despite encountering a number of struggles as it comes up against new competitors – especially Facebook with its own check-in system.
The report claims that half of FourSquare’s users are located in the United States, while the other half are located across the world.
The company’s US competitors include sites such as MyTown and Loopt. While these sites are not yet popular in Australia, FourSquare is coming under increasing pressure at home where geosocial apps have become much more popular.
