Changing careers can be a big step, so it makes sense to be able to dip your toe in the water before taking the plunge – and, Springwise reports, two companies provide just that service.
Vocation Vacation matches up those looking to start a new career with a mentor in that field to help give them a quick, but hopefully realistic, taste of the new job, with charges raging from several hundred to several thousand dollars.
The idea is that having had a one to three day immersion in the new career, the client has both a good idea of what the new career might be like and a set of contacts that will help them make the move.
Figuring Out provides a service directed more to those who know they want a career change, but aren’t sure precisely what they want to do. It provides career coaching to help identify possible career prospects and then hooks the person up with part-time work in the selected area.
