A number of security and advocacy groups including the American Civil Liberties Union and the Electronic Privacy Information Center in the United States have requested an investigation into social networking giant Facebook.
The groups have requested that the Federal Trade Commission look into allegations that Facebook is tracking users even after they have logged off the site.
“Given these extraordinary circumstances, the Electronic Privacy Information Center, The Center for Digital Democracy, Consumer Watchdog, and the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse, urge the Commission to investigate Facebook,” the complaint requests, according to Boy Genius Report.
The groups want the FTC to determine the extent of any harm placed on consumer privacy and safety, and want Facebook to give users control over their personal information.
