Business owners who ban social networking sites like Facebook may be made to feel like wowsers. But at least your employees are working.
A survey from LinkMe found that almost half of the 2800 Facebook users surveyed say they visit social networking sites at work. And one in five owned up to using Facebook for more than two hours a week.
Paul Tyrrell, development manager at LinkMe, says that given the average Australian salary is $54,000 a week, two hours on Facebook adds up to $2700 a week. He also believes that even more are playing but not admitting to it.
And don’t believe those employees who claim to be using it to build networks. Most of those surveyed say they use it to chat to friends, play games and upload photos and videos.
