Internet search giant Google will pay Motorola Mobility over $US2.5 billion if its proposed acquisition does not go ahead, according to Bloomberg.
The publication reports that the amount to be paid is much more than usual.
Google announced the deal yesterday, announcing that it would give the company a substantial portfolio of patents and access to a key manufacturing base. Some analysts have also said the deal makes sense as it will allow Google more control over how its Android operating system is used by manufacturers.
Other analysts have also said the unusually high fee suggests Google is confident that the deal will go through unabated by regulators.
