Manufacturing giant Samsung has announced it has sold more than one million units of the Galaxy S II handset, remarking that it has been selling “like hotcakes”.
The company, which is based in South Korea, also said that it took less time than ever to reach the one million sales mark, beating the first Galaxy by 40 days. It sold its first 100,000 units in three days and 500,000 within two weeks.
Samsung has said the gadget will be launching in Australia next month, but unlike several international versions it will not contain NFC.
“The company is closely monitoring local application and demand for NFC technology and is ready to release NFC-enabled handsets into the Australian market at the appropriate time,” it told Gizmodo last week.
