The “Twitter curse” may have hit American Idol, according to Mashable, with 17-year-old Lauren Alaina losing to Scotty McCreery, despite attracting more tweets than her Southern rival before the final.
Using data generated by social TV iPhone app Yap.TV Pulse for Idol, the site says there was just one week this season where the Twitter front-runner did not get booted off the popular show.
Having said that, Alaina attracted more negative and neutral tweets than her rival, and McCreery’s Facebook page had more ‘likes’ than Alaina’s.
