Snail mail for Facebook

A new Facebook application has launched that allows users to contact their friends… even when offline.

While the social networking site already offers an array of applications allowing different forms of entertainment and communication between users, the new service called “Peggy Mail” is the first to allow contact with the outside world.

The service, which is only available in Britain and Ireland, sends postcards for free after users type in a message with the recipient’s address. These postcards are then printed and delivered with the aim to connect generations through different forms of technology.

The application is an example of the OFF=ON and ON=OFF phenomenon, which are designed to bridge the gap between the virtual and real worlds.
