Is it a good idea to add a FAQ tab to my Facebook page?

A lot of businesses on Facebook find that they are often asked the same questions over and over by their visitors. Rather than getting frustrated that yet another person wants to know X, you can add a FAQ tab to help not just you, but also your customers as they won’t have to wait for you to reply.

There are numerous ways you could add the tab:

1.     Use the Discussion Board application as your FAQ tab, this is very easy to do, just make each question a discussion topic.

2.     Use an application called FAQ, this is free and really easy to use, plus the tab is called FAQ.

3.     Use an FBML tab as your FAQ tab; a little trickier in that you need to know some info on coding, so not for codaphobics.

Note: Just to clarify, you add an application to your page which creates a tab.

Tips for your FAQ tab:

  • Tell your visitors that you have one!
  • Try to put similar questions together so that it is easy for people to find the answers, eg. all the questions on shipping together.
  • Link to the tab on your page’s info tab if you think it would be helpful to people.
  • Make the questions and answers easy to understand, don’t use “geek” speak – assume people know nothing.
  • Make sure you keep it up-to-date, there is nothing worse as a consumer than going to an FAQ tab only to find out that the content is from two years ago.
  • Don’t be afraid to include links to sections of your website if relevant.
  • Add to the list of questions as you get asked more, and this will turn into a valuable resource for your business and your customers.
  • Don’t do half a job, if you are going to add it then make sure it is totally filled in.

An FAQ tab isn’t necessarily going to work for every business, think about it before you add it. Will it improve your visitors experience on your page? Will it help people to understand more about what your business offers? Will it be useful?

Remember, it is better to have relevant interesting content on your page, rather than every single app going.
