Former Google employee Paul Buchheit, one of the co-creators of the Gmail platform, has trashed the Chrome OS, saying the company will either shut it down or move it into the Android software.
“Prediction: ChromeOS will be killed next year (or ‘merged’ with Android),” he said on his Twitter account.
“ChromeOS has no purpose that isn’t better served by Android (perhaps with a few mods to support a non-touch display). I was thinking, ‘is this too obvious to even state?’, but then I see people taking ChromeOS seriously, and Google is even shipping devices for some reason,” he added on Friend Feed.
The comment comes as Google has sent out test units of laptops using the Chrome OS system as part of a pilot program.
