Cloud security will become a $1.5 billion business by 2015, according to new figures released by research group Forrester.
The company’s new report “Security and the Cloud” predicts that cloud security will account for almost 5% of IT security technology spending.
“Most of the discussion about cloud and security solutions has been about security SaaS: the delivery model for security shifting from on-premise to cloud-based,” report author Jonathon Penn told InformationWeek. “That’s missing the forest for the trees.”
“Look at how the rest of IT – which is about 30 times the size of the security market – is moving to the cloud. What does that mean in terms of how we secure these systems, applications, and data?”
Penn says that as time goes on, more businesses will demand that cloud services come in-built with security mechanisms.
