Online retail giant Amazon has offered an iPhone app for awhile, but the latest update adds a new feature designed to make shopping easier – a bar code scanner.
Users are able to search for any product by scanning a barcode. They hold up the gadget to a barcode, and follow some on-screen instructions informing how to hold the iPhone in the correct way.
Within a few seconds the app scans the barcode and conducts a search for the product on the Amazon database. While the site is most well-known for selling books, the company says other products can be used through the scanner.
While there are various other barcode scanners available on the App Store, using the Amazon app will give you instant access to a product database. It can be downloaded now for free.
