Motorola releases Droid Pro smartphone

Smartphone manufacturer Motorola has released a new version of its Droid gadget, calling it the Droid Pro.

The company is targeting the enterprise market, with the gadget resembling a BlackBerry device. It features a 3.1-inch touch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard and is global – it can work on several networks around the world.

“The Droid Pro is an advanced business-ready solution that provides users with the full smartphone experience, redefined by delivering the power of a Droid,” Sanjay Jha, chief executive officer of Motorola Mobility told Information Week.

“The Droid Pro consolidates users’ work and personal needs. This is just another reason the Droid Pro is setting a new standard for enterprise, allowing users to enjoy all the benefits of a smartphone with full push delivery of corporate email and corporate level security.”

The device will run on the Android 2.2 operating system, and will feature Exchange email, remote lock and VPN integration.
