Internet giant Google has said any more activity surrounding Street View activities have been blocked due to a ruling from the Czech Republic’s data protection authority.
“Our request for registration for future picture collection and processing in the Czech Republic within the Street View service was not met,” Grayling public relations spokesperson Simon Rakosnik told AFP in a statement.
“Naturally, no new photo documents will be collected until this affair is settled with the Czech Data Protection Office,” he said. However, he also said the issue should be resolved within the week.
Google Street View has come under fire this year due to the privacy case surrounding a rogue line of code that inadvertently collected data from residents’ unsecured wireless networks, sending it to Street View vehicles.
