NextGen Networks reaches speeds of 100Gbps

NextGen Networks has announced it has managed to record internet connection speeds of up to 100 gigabytes per second.

The company said in a statement it achieved the result through using routing and optic equipment infrastructure over a fibre network. Managing director Phil Sykes said such an achievement was not achievable in Australia before this.

“We’re loading the cable at 100Gbps but we are also manipulating the IP packet of 100Gbps as well,” he told ARN. “What this allows us to do is then apply classes of service and quality of service controls to the IP packet stream at 100Gbps, which is really a novel approach here.”

“A big boost to capacity is only part of the story. What this technology really does is manage the packet-by-packet quality of service at 100 Gigabits per second. A necessity to underpin delivery of the new technology types of services including advanced and remote medical imaging.”
