Telco giant Optus added 254,000 new mobile subscribers in the quarter ending March 31, representing its strongest quarterly growth in five years.
According to the company’s latest financial results, total subscriber numbers are now at 8.498 million, up by 709,000 from the same period 12 months ago.
Additionally, the company said postpaid deals as a total of subscriptions grew, adding 595,000 new customers in the previous 12 months. Postpaid deals now make up 49% of the company’s mobile space, up by 3% from a year ago.
Optus’ 3G mobile customers grew to 3.61 million, representing a 7.8% increase from the previous quarter.
