New figures from widgets firm Gigya reveal Facebook accounts for 44% of all shared social content on the internet.
As reported by TechCrunch, Gigya, whose widgets are available on more than 5,000 sites including Answers, Reuters, NBA and ABC, said Facebook and Twitter are dominating the social networking scene accounting for 75% of all shared content.
Gigya’s widgets allow users to share links, photos and videos through menus of different social networking services on a separate site.
The figures reveal Twitter takes up 29%, with Facebook the leader at 44%. Yahoo comes in at 18%, followed by MySpace in fourth at 9%.
Additionally, the post claims that figures from AddThis also show Facebook leading the pack at 33%, with Twitter falling to just 9%.
