A 28-year-old Twitter member has landed a TV deal with a major American television network after setting up an account to “tweet” remarks his father had said.
The account, titled “Shit My Dad Says”, is updated daily with a new phrase from the account holder’s father, many of them being amusing anecdotes or potentially offensive remarks.
The account holder, Justin Halpern, has over 700,000 followers, and has now signed a deal with CBS, according to industry blog The Live Feed.
The deal will see Halpern create a new show in collaboration with the writers of the hit sitcom Will and Grace. Entertainment group Warner Brothers is expected to produce the show.
However, it is expected the title of the Twitter account will change if the show goes ahead.
