New figures from ComScore show that while Facebook has continued its growth trend, Twitter has grown stagnant in its number of monthly unique visitors.
The figures reveal that during September, the number of unique visitors to Facebook grew by over three million to 95.5 million, while Twitter recorded 20.9 million uniques – a small increase over the 20.8 recorded in August.
The figures indicate a widening gap between the two social networks, which has grown from 50 million visitors in April to 75 million visitors in September.
TechCrunch points out that while the gap is significant, ComScore only measures traffic to Twitter.com, while most Twitter users do not visit the website in order to tweet. Instead, third applications and programs are often used.
But tech analysts have jumped on the numbers, asking whether Twitter’s growth may be at an end.
