Local tech start-up offers $100k internship to top Aussie graduate

Promoting it as the “World’s Best Internship” Sydney-based startup Alphatise is offering a “career starter” to an Australian university student with a $50,000 salary package and an additional $50,000 worth of shares in the company, a new Nissan Juke worth $25,000, plus a laptop and phone.

While it may seem like a great deal, Australia’s current ESOP laws, might make it less attractive, though they are set to change.

Applications for the role are now open, with applicants required to submit a 60-second video pitch to be in the running. The 12-month internship will be awarded based on the quality of the video and the number of votes it receives leveraged from applicants’ social status.

Launched last week in Australia, Alphatise is set to disrupt online retail in the company’s bid to deliver a new digital democracy for the Australian retail sector.

Co-founder Ben Nowlan says the winning candidate will be mentored to learn the essential skills required to be part of their business.

“This is an exciting time for someone to join our team and be a part of a new venture that is the first ecosystem in retail where shoppers call the shots,” says Nowlan.

“We’re looking for someone that is keen to learn how our business will empower shoppers as well as bring some fresh, digitally-driven thinking to mix.”
