Australian logistics entrepreneur wins world award

Australian transport logistics entrepreneur Leigh Williams has been named International Young Professional of the Year by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Williams, the founder and chief executive of Melbourne-based eStore Logistics, was commended for his entrepreneurialism, mentoring, promoting the logistics industry and growing the business.

eStore Logistics was started in 2008 and provides third party logistics delivery services for online retailers and bricks and mortar stores.

“Order fulfilment is a critical priority for any online retailer, yet many are treating it as less important than site design or marketing,” Williams says in a statement.

“The only physical experience a customer has with an online retailer is the delivery of their purchase, and a poor delivery service undermines the whole online shopping experience.

“By increasing the efficiency of this process, while keeping costs down, we’ve been able to carve out a burgeoning niche in the huge logistics industry.”

Williams praised and thanked the team behind him, saying they each contributed to him winning the award.

He says the award would spur him to “take the business to the next level” and “aggressively” grow it with new offerings and increased levels of service.
