Challenging for the leadership

As long-time Taskmaster readers will know, this is an advice column rather than a political column.

That said, as Old Taskmaster was defrosting last night’s Chicken tikka from cryogenic storage, Simon Crean’s press conference was showing in the corner on Old Reliable.

It became clear it was time to discuss the big pressing news issue facing the nation. It’s time to tackle the leadership issue.

More specifically, it’s time to discuss the issue of challenging for the leadership.

You see, last night was one of the key annual events for the small business and start-up community in this country: The StartupSmart Awards.

As promised, Old Taskmaster showed up incognito.

Assembled at the awards was a room full of entrepreneurs who certainly are challenging for control of their respective industries.

In a wide range of fields, from online services to info tech to green technology to young entrepreneurs to wine, there can be no doubt about it – these contenders are challenging.

If you’re kicking around the idea of starting your own business, it’s certainly worth joining this winning ticket.

Well, Old Taskmaster says this: Take a look at the StartupSmart Top 50 for 2013. Read through some of the winners’ profiles and get yourself inspired to launch your own start-up.

Who knows, you too could soon find yourself challenging for a leadership position.
