Ever wanted to create a mix tape to woo a loved one but didn’t want to go through the hassle of finding an actual cassette tape and a dual-deck tape recorder?
Australian company Sharetapes has launched a product that it says gives the classic mix tape a modern twist.
Tracks from online sites such as Spotify, YouTube or 8tracks are “recorded” to the tape. A plastic credit card-sized card with a QR code on the back is given to a loved one.
They are played back by scanning the QR code with a mobile or tablet, by tapping the card against a Near Field Communication-enabled device or by logging onto sharetapes.com.
Devices link to the online service used to “record” the tape and play the playlist.
Can you think of any other outdated items that could do with a rejig?
