New bike helmet senses crashes

start-up-idea-helmetA new bike helmet has been created to connect with a smartphone app to alert emergency services if the owner crashes.

A motion detector attached to the helmet senses the crash. The ICEdot Crash Sensor even evaluates the severity of the crash.

The app prompts the phone to sound an alarm and a countdown is initiated, which can be set to 15-60 seconds.

If not deactivated, the app contacts an emergency service, and relays local and medical history.

“Cycling, skiing, backcountry travel, team sports and motor sports all involve significant risks. Be known when it counts with the new ICEdot Crash Sensor,” the website says.

“In the event of an impact, the device sends critical data to the app, which sounds an alarm and initiates an emergency countdown.”

“Unless the countdown clock is stopped, the app will then notify your emergency contacts and send GPS coordinates of the incident so that appropriate follow-up actions can be taken.”

If you’re looking for the next big thing in road safety, why not come up with something similar to the ICEdot Crash Sensor?
