Punctuality runs in my family. We’re those annoying people who get to functions early, before the party really gets going. It usually means we sit there bored out of our minds, but we just can’t stop living by that clock.
Of course, punctual people can’t stand those who are late. So it was with some mirth that I read a hilarious spray against late people written by Greg Savage, a recruiter who writes for the great new site, LeadingCompany.
Greg says there are no excuses.
“It is not that we lead ‘busy lives’. That’s a given – we all do – and it’s a cop-out to use that as an excuse. It’s simply that some people no longer even pretend that they think your time is as important as theirs. And technology makes it worse. It seems texting or emailing that you are late somehow means you are no longer late.
“Rubbish. You are rude. And inconsiderate.”
Couldn’t agree more. No one ever got in trouble for being overdressed and no one ever got in trouble for being early.
Put your watch forward five minutes and train yourself to stick to your appointments. Take punctuality seriously and others will take you seriously.
Get it done – today!
