Form a tech brains trust

taskmasterToday I was at a terrific event as part of the Victorian Small Business Festival that focused on technology for SMEs and I wanted to share a brilliant idea from one of the speakers, a futurist called Craig Rispin.

Craig gave a fascinating presentation (you can view it on his LinkedIn page) but I wanted to pick up on a tip he gave in the Q&A session.

He argues that one of the best things entrepreneurs can do to lift their tech performance is to use their networks to form a brains trust and attack tech improvements together.

Let’s say, for example, that one business concentrates on learning everything they can about search engine optimisation, while another looks at mobile strategies.

The different business owners go away and learn all they can about one area, and then come back and help the other members of the group apply those same strategies to their business.

Alternatively, you can all pick one topic to concentrate on for a month – say LinkedIn, for example – and then share the tips and tricks and mistakes that are learned.

It’s a great idea so get it done – today!
