Skincare iPhone app has cosmetic appeal

There’s a new beauty app launching on the Apple App Store that aims to help users find the best possible skincare products for their particular skin type.

The app, dubbed mySkin, lets users work out which skincare products work best for their skin before they fork out any money for them.

It uses a recommendation engine called Just Like Me to find skincare products for each user, taking into account their skin conditions, lifestyle, diet and any skin concerns.

After taking a skin assessment, the user receives recommendations from a catalogue of more than 160,000 products from various brands and retailers.

“Don’t you wish you could just open your cabinet and – voila! – have the perfect products magically appear? Products that are effective, safe for your skin, and worth every penny,” the mySkin website says.

“Our mission is to bring clarity to the world of skincare, and give you the confidence to make better decisions.”

While mySkin might have the skincare market covered, surely there are other categories that would benefit from an app like this one, such as hair care.
