Luxury brand Yves Saint Laurent is tapping into social media by creating a Facebook-inspired eye shadow.
The four-colour Devoted To Fans #1 palette features Facebook-esque blue, black, white and grey tones. It will be available to fans of the Yves Saint Laurent Fragrances & Beauty Facebook page.
Any Facebook fan who buys the new palette will receive special “privileges” such as exclusive information, perks and services through the YSL Facebook feed and in-store.
“We are honoured that a prestigious brand such as Yves Saint Laurent resumes Facebook colour codes to launch a unique product,” Facebook France commercial director Damien Vincent says.
Popular culture often inspires beauty collaborations – Betty Boop for Lancôme and Miss Piggy for MAC are some other examples.
So perhaps there’s an opportunity for a savvy start-up to partner with a major makeup brand as it seeks to grow its digital marketing strategy.
